Aged 51

Born on 22nd May 1889 in Liverpool (West Derby Q2-1889 8B:558), seemingly the daughter of Henry Carey and Kate LEE (née WILLIAMS). 1891 census...Aged 1, she was at 23 Cedar Grove, Toxteth Park, Liverpool with her father Henry C LEE [38] a ship's purser, born Darlington; her mother Kate [32]; sister Hilda M [6] and brother George S [3]. All except her father were born in Liverpool. 1901 census...Aged 11, she was at 37 Kenmore Road, Toxteth Park with her parents; sister Hilda (now a stationer's assistant) and brother George. 1911 census...Aged 21, she was at 119 Avondale Road, Wavertree, Liverpool with her widowed mother, sister Hilda May and a visitor, Gwendoline Hornby [21] Apparently married Frederick HUMPHRIES in 1936 in Hendon. (Hendon Q2-1936 3A:1496) In the 1939 register Margery was at "Aislabie", Mill Road, Stetchworth with her husband, school teacher Frederick HUMPHRIES [13-5-1885] with Frederick Harrison, a retired bloodstock breeder and his wife Kathleen. A note says Margery was an "L.C.C. helper". Mr. Humphries had recently come to Stetchworth with some evacuee children from his East London school and his wife had joined him to be "safer" away from London. They later moved into the School House.
